continuing research

There have not been a lot of huge updates since I arrived back in Maryland. I have continued drafting my videos, writing out the vague outlines for my episodes and the further research that I need to conduct. I have decided to split my second video, which previously combined the concepts of gymnastike and mousike, into two separate videos. This decision came as I was reflecting on some of the things I had learned while in Greece, particularly about ancient Greek music and its importance in everyday life. I still want to make 10 videos, so I will be cutting my episode which focused on education outside of Athens (in Sparta.) I think this choice will ultimately benefit my series, as it will limit the scope of my topic to just Athens. This will also make my written analysis much easier to write, as I will not have to bounce around from city-state to city-state, and can instead just stay in Athens. Finally, and most importantly, I have transferred all of the clips I took while in Greece from my camera and onto my computer. This task came with naming and organizing the files, which makes further filming of my videos much easier to visualize and manage. In the last section of summer break before school resumes, I hope to get in the last bits of preliminary research before I finalize my scripts.
